This is just a nice design detail and does not affect the performance of the mattress in any way.

True hand side stitching is a labour intensive process of stitching the side border panel to the actual spring unit in the mattress. Usually only found on either hand made (bespoke) mattresses or the very top of an exclusive range.

Beware: some mattresses are described as being 'side stitched' which in fact they are (by machine) and not attached to the spring unit - but, the term 'simulated' tends to be avoided! Perhaps they want you to assume it is hand stitched. Who knows?

THE BUCKINGHAM 1000

For me this is just one of those perfect beds. The comfort level is a real medium tension - not too soft and not too hard. The mattress depth is a full 10" deep with simulated hand stitching* on the side panels. It has the appearance and feel of a mattress that should cost twice the amount. The layer of polyester wadding used directly below the sleep surface is a 1000gsm polyester - and there are not many beds that uses this high a grade.

Although not shown on the main mage this also comes with a rolled and padded bumper bar.

The fabric used is an absolute top quality hard wearing woven damask with a pale peach floral design. The base top is also covered in this fabric and has a padded upholstered surface that gives the mattress extra cushioning. These are linked together with brass joining bars.
